Nick Fury calls in The Doctor to assist in Earth’s current crisis.
"He’s aboard," Director Fury announced. "Just got readings of serious electromagnetic activity in sector four."
"Who’s aboard, sir?" Agent Maria Hill asked in a worried tone. One heli-carrier could only hold so many super-humans (and their super-egos).
The elevator rang and the double doors opened and a lanky man adorned in a tuxedo stepped out onto the bridge. “It would seem to me that you’ve got an inter-dimensional villain on your hands and he’s opened up a sort of rift in time and space to allow his minions passage into this reality, is that correct?” he asked, glancing around the room for verification.
"Yes, that is correct," Nick Fury answered flatly. "Are you going to help us?"
"Well, yeah. I suppose I am. I do fancy your little planet. All you brilliant people." A grin spread across his face. "I’ve just got to pop back into the TARDIS for a minute so I can trace the signal being broadcast from that nasty little tower and find the alien ship!" He spun on his heel and made his way back to the elevator. "Oh!" he turned once more to face the bridge. "I’m the Doctor, by the way, if anyone cares." With that, he ducked into the elevator and disappeared.
"So we’re just letting any old civillian onboard?" Tony grumbled.
"You’ve never heard of the Doctor?" Bruce asked with a shy smirk.
"It’s the Doctor. Just the Doctor,” Bruce explained. “God, I’ve heard so many stories about him. I’d like to go and see his TARDIS.”
"Oh, I bet you would.” Tony chuckled.
"Is the Doctor aware of Code Nine?" Natasha cut in and Fury glared at her with his one good eye. "Does he know the protocols? We’re supposed to arrest him on sight, Fury."
"That can wait, Agent Romanoff. Right now, we need him."
"So what? After all of this is over, we’re going to thank him by taking him into custody?"
Her question was met with an uncomfortable silence.
